My Bio
www.studio-toffa.com/

Studio Toffa Photography was started in 2010 as a banner for my photographic output. The focus of Studio Toffa Photography is to provide both fine art and stock photographs of the norwegian landscape and nature. I aim for to provide good quality images that is both suited for the livingroom as the office. I'm confident that there is an image here for everyone's taste in regards to landscape and nature. My base is Jæren in Rogaland, an district with a diverse and varied landscape that range from lowland plains and agricultural fields to rugged mountains and stormy coastal landscapes as well as small towns and lighthouses to urban cities. So many of my pictures will showcase these landscapes and subjects.
As we have enough postcards in newstands, shops and tourist attractions in this country, I try to show known places and subjects in a different light. I want people to rediscover the places they know, and take a new look at them. Maybe be inspire by them to seek out these places that they've not seen since their childhood.
As a nativ norwegian, I've always felt a connection with the old norwegian fairytales, norse mythology, history and the old folklore of trolls and the spirit of the rivers, lakes, and the forest, and also the magic of the nature and the landscapes of Norway. I'm also very fond of Norwegian national romantic artist like Theodor Kittelsen, Hans Gude, Thomas Fearnley, J.C. Dahl, August Cappelen, and Lars Hertervig. All painter with the landscape as their main subject. This love for my native land have inspired and influenced my choice of subjects in my images as well. I try in my photographs to capture some of the mood and magic that the folklore and the norwegian fairytales contains, in a language that is close to national romantic painters. After all, it's a strong part of the norse national soul.I'm also a conservationist by heart, so I also aim with my pictures to enwoke people's love for the wonders in our nature around us. To make people see that we need to take this into account when we progress. That it's not just to push the wheel of progress blindfolded in front of us. We all have a responsability to the forthcoming generations to also let them enjoy and experience the wonder that is the norwegian landscape, free from electrical cabels, recreation home developements, four-lane highways and tunnels. We need the diversity of wildlife and plantlife, as well as both the wild landscape as the cultured landscape. Yes, we're a small country, but the nature is our biggest asset, so we need to guard it for the comming generations. It would be a shame if future generation only can see a majestic waterfall in the paintings and pictures of the past.

No not really. What I'm really get fed up with is all those artist that claim that they're not inspired by other and that they seek to do their own stuff. Unless you've been a cavedweller for the last 40 years since your birth with no contact what so ever with the outside world, and someone some day just drop either a set painting equipment, a set of camera gear, paper and pencil or a sulpture's kit at the entrance to your cave, you're inspired by and influenced by other, wether you like it or not. None of us is most likely gonna invent the wheel all over in a totally new configuration and still make it work smoothly. As with 99,99 % of all

Ok, I know I'm not God, but it's a reference to one of my favorite Tome Waits songs "God's away on buiness", and I felt for to play a little bit of that title here. Yes, I know I've not been very active these last few months, but I'm back now to give you some new images for your eyes to feast upon. As some of you may know, since September I've been working on my new homepage and getting that up and running smoothly. I don't know if that is finished entirely yet, but for the mainpart I feel it's set as I like it. So for those of you who want to take a peak: http://www.studio-toffa.com .
